Prices are lower per lb the more you purchase. Whole beef is available as well.

This is an excellent price! The cost includes everything (butcher fees, slaughter fees and finished weight so the math is super easy). This would be like paying as low as $3.50 per lb hanging weight. With hanging weight, you end up with about 45% of finished beef and often have butcher, cutting and slaughter fees, which come out to around an additional $0.75+ per lb in extra fees. Often ending up with a cost of $10-$11+ per lb in actual finished beef with other providers when you buy a half or whole. But we have consolidated all of this into a bulk purchase agreement to save you extra money!

Because this is a share instead of a normally boxed product, the farmer does not do additional discounts on the shares, so this is the final price, with no additional fees since this price includes butcher fees and everything! :)

    # BAR-W BEEF SHARES

    ### Utah Raised. Utah Processed. From Their Ranch to Your Freezer — Now Available Through Food & Meat Co-op.

We are incredibly excited to introduce one of our favorite local partnerships yet.

**Food & Meat Co-op has partnered with Bar-W Beef in Nephi, Utah to bring their locally raised beef directly to our co-op communities — in shares ranging from just 25 lbs all the way up to a full 400 lb beef share.**

This is exactly the kind of partnership Food & Meat Co-op was created for: finding exceptional producers doing things differently and using the power of our co-op and distribution network to make their food accessible to more families.

    And Bar-W is something special.

    ## KNOW EXACTLY WHERE YOUR BEEF COMES FROM

    Bar-W isn't simply a beef brand or a processor.

They have built a true **pasture-to-plate beef operation right here in Utah.**

Their cattle are raised on Utah ranches, brought to their feedlot in Nephi, fed through a carefully managed feeding program, and ultimately harvested, aged, cut and packaged inside Bar-W's own state-of-the-art USDA-inspected processing facility.

**Raised by them. Fed by them. Processed by them.**

That means extraordinary traceability from the ranch all the way to your family's freezer.

    ## WE WENT TO SEE IT FOR OURSELVES

Before bringing Bar-W Beef to our co-op, our Food & Meat Co-op team had the opportunity to spend several hours touring their Nephi operation and processing facility.

We saw firsthand the scale of what they have built, learned how their cattle are raised and fed, walked through their processing operation, and met the people behind it.

    We left incredibly impressed.

Their processing facility was built in 2024 and incorporates modern technology, strict sanitation standards and facility design focused on low-stress animal handling. Bar-W also operates an extensive dry-aging program designed to improve tenderness and develop deeper beef flavor.

**This is the kind of Utah agriculture we are proud to put the Food & Meat Co-op name behind.**

    ## GRASS-FED + GRAIN-FINISHED

Bar-W cattle begin on Utah pasture and are **grass-fed and grain-finished** for the marbling, tenderness and rich beef flavor many families love.

Bar-W works with nutritionists to formulate its cattle feeding program, which can include alfalfa and grass hay, silage, corn silage, flaked corn, dried distillers grain and mineral supplementation.

Their beef is then **dry-aged approximately 10–14 days** before being cut and packaged.

    ## YOU DON'T HAVE TO BUY HALF A COW

This may be our favorite part.

Buying beef by the whole, half or quarter animal is one of the oldest ways families have stocked their freezers — but it isn't practical for everyone.

A traditional beef share can require a large freezer, a large upfront purchase and hundreds of pounds of meat.

**So we're making Bar-W Beef shares available for almost every family and freezer size.**

    Choose from approximately:

    **25 lbs — 1/16 Beef Share**
A fantastic introduction to buying beef in bulk without filling an entire freezer.

    **50 lbs — 1/8 Beef Share**
A manageable stock-up for smaller families or anyone wanting a broader variety of beef.

    **100 lbs — 1/4 Beef Share**
A serious freezer stock-up with a variety of cuts for everyday meals, grilling and slow cooking.

    **200 lbs — 1/2 Beef Share**
For larger families, serious bulk buyers or anyone who wants to stock the freezer for months.

**400 lbs — FULL Beef Share**
The ultimate way to buy beef in bulk — an entire beef divided into a freezer-ready assortment of cuts.

*Share weights are approximate and individual cuts and final weights may vary.*

    ## A TRUE BEEF SHARE

This isn't 25, 50 or 100 pounds of whatever cuts happen to be available.

**Each size is designed to represent its proportional share of the animal.**

That means your box contains a thoughtfully balanced assortment based on the cuts produced by a whole beef — including a combination of premium steaks, roasts, ground beef and other cuts.

As your share gets larger, you're simply receiving a larger portion of the same whole-animal harvest.

It's one of the best ways to experience beef the way generations of families have purchased it directly from ranchers — **only now you can choose the share size that actually fits your household.**

    ## WHY WE LOVE BAR-W

    **UTAH RAISED**
Beef raised close to home on Utah ranches.

    **PASTURE-TO-PLATE TRACEABILITY**
Bar-W maintains control throughout the process, from raising and feeding cattle through processing and packaging.

    **GRASS-FED + GRAIN-FINISHED**
Raised on pasture and finished for the flavor, tenderness and marbling expected from premium beef.

    **DRY-AGED**
Their beef is typically dry-aged 10–14 days to develop flavor and tenderness.

    **USDA-INSPECTED PROCESSING**
Processed in Bar-W's own USDA-inspected facility in Nephi, Utah.

    **VACUUM SEALED**
Cuts are vacuum sealed for convenient freezer storage.

    **SUPPORTS LOCAL AGRICULTURE**
Your purchase keeps more of your food dollars connected to Utah agriculture and the people producing our food.

    **DELIVERED THROUGH YOUR CO-OP**
Food & Meat Co-op makes these shares available through our unique community distribution model — bringing Bar-W Beef beyond Nephi and into the communities we serve.

    ## TWO UTAH COMPANIES. ONE SHARED MISSION.

Bar-W has built the infrastructure to raise and process exceptional Utah beef.

Food & Meat Co-op has built a community-powered distribution system capable of bringing great producers directly to thousands of families.

**Together, we're shortening the distance between the ranch and your dinner table.**

    No mystery beef.

No wondering where it came from.

Just locally raised beef from a Utah ranch and processor we've personally visited, from people we've gotten to know, delivered through a co-op you already trust.

    ### Choose your share. Make room in the freezer. And experience the Bar-W difference.

All shares contain local beef cuts, 50-55% of it ground beef, and the rest a mixture of Beef Tenderloin, Rib Eye, New York, Flank, Flat Iron, Skirt, Top Sirloin Steak, Cube Steak, Tri-Tip, London Eye, Denver Steak, Brisket, Sirloin Tip, Chuck Roast, Short Rib, Boneless Short Rib, Stew, Hanger Steak, Ribs. Each box will have a couple high-end steaks, a fews, mid-level steaks, and then misc. other cuts.

No 2 boxes will ever be the same. In an effort to use every part of the cow and not be wasteful, each 1/16th, 1/8th, 1/4th, 1/2 and full share includes a mixture of random cuts and every box gets half ground beef and then a mixture of high-end steaks, mid-level steaks, and other cuts to where each box has a similar value and then sold at the co-op. This way, every box carries similar value and allows for buying cow meat in bulk at direct co-op pricing—helping you save big!

Love, care, and time has gone into each one as we've been creating them and we have enjoyed the process! We hope you love them too!
