Special Feature: Red Barn Academy

When people find themselves going down the wrong path, it’s important that there are resources available to help get them back on track. We are excited to partner with Red Barn Academy in Farmington, Utah, because we believe in their mission to help others find themselves and give them a new purpose to this thing called life.

Red Barn Academy is a perfect example that things don’t have to be complicated to be productive. Getting their start in October of 2017, Red Barn Academy has changed countless lives, and we want you to learn a little bit more about this amazing resource right in our own backyard!

What is Red Barn Academy?

Red Barn Academy is a residential program where men commit to at least 2 years to work on building life skills and changing their mindsets and negative habits. The residents can come from a variety of background issues that include addiction, homelessness, and criminal records, among others.

With a goal of working with each individual to develop better coping habits, behavior modifications, and overall character, Red Barn Academy truly focuses on building each person from the inside out. This isn’t an easy program, but if an individual truly wants to change, this is one of the best places to do it.

Many of the staff members have their own struggles that put them on their mission to help others change before it’s too late. You can read about them here.

Key Elements, Motto, and Core Values

Red Barn Academy knows that in order to truly change someone’s habitual ways, there isn’t a simple fix. This is why they use a variety of elements to help people find a new course and outlook on life.

A few ways they do this are through vocational training, learning proper ways of communication, working with peer groups, providing training in leadership and job-readiness skills, as well as education and continuing care services.

The businesses that they use to help build up these skills are Red Barn Movers, Red Barn Thrift, and Red Barn Construction. This gives each individual the chance to find vocations that they can continue with after they successfully complete the program.

With a motto of “Each One, Teach One,” they assure each resident that they do have a purpose and gifts to bring to the world and that when they work together, there is so much good that can be completed.

The core values of the Red Barn Academy are

  • Honesty
  • Integrity
  • Courage
  • Commitment
  • Community

This might not be the best type of support system for everyone, but it can serve as a life-saving resource for those who are willing to put in the work and make the changes.

There are some great examples that show how it changes lives from those who have personal experience with Red Barn Academy, and these are just a few of the hundreds of lives that Red Barn has played a part in changing for the better!

How Can You Help?

Red Barn Academy is a 501(c)(3) public, non-profit organization that relies heavily on donations from the public in order to continue to provide these amazing resources to the community. Here at the Co-Op, we are Teaming Up With Red Barn Academy by accepting donations to provide them with high-quality meat products to serve to the residents.

You can also check out their website on How to Donate and play a part in supporting this amazing resource to not only the individuals but also the community and surrounding areas by helping people become productive citizens and regaining their true purpose in life.

We all know that life can be hard, and it can be easy to get off track and not know how to get back to where you want to be. This program allows people the opportunity to better themselves and not lose years and years of their lives lost in a system that doesn’t support all of the necessary needs.
