The case size is still the exact same 10 lbs, you will just get more individual fillets with this case.
This item is an OVERSTOCK acquisition. Sometimes in our pursuit of delicious foods for the co-op, we come across a product that is an overstock from a farmer/supplier/source and being sold below wholesale pricing at a loss to ""clear it out."" As such, our occasional overstock items are already at the lowest possible price, so no additional discounts (like VIP Insider's) will apply to this product.

EXTRA discount too!! Reason for overstock: These salmon were hand skinned, but they were not done properly. They only removed the superficial part of the skin, instead of the deep cuts to removing the discoloring from the skin. You will notice the filets have a brown discoloring where the skin was not cut off deep enough. As such, the restaurant chain that buys these rejected this load because they want perfect looking salmon.
That means we get a screamin' deal! The product is not compromised at all and in fact, most just barely skin salmon anyway, so we really found a gold mine!

If you are looking for a great buy on Wild Caught Alaskan Salmon, the Food and Meat Co-op is bringing in 10lb cases of fresh, flash-frozen Keta Salmon Filets that are already portioned out in 4 -6 oz skinless portions for co-op pricing at only $7.99 lb. There are 5 vacuum-sealed packed that contain 2 lbs of - 6-8 oz portions frozen in one vacuum-sealed pack. You can cut these apart to serve one filet at a time as well. This is a total of 30-34 filets at only $3.19 per filet!!

These are caught in the Pacific in the wild by net near Alaska and sent to Indonesia for cutting and processing. The company that controls and manages all of this is a US, Florida based company. These have a best by date of November of 2023, so they are very fresh!
Keta Salmon is the naturally lower fat variety of Salmon species when compared to fat content found in Sockeye or King. As such, they are lighter flesh and milder taste as well, which is the perfect well-rounded Salmon cut for a lower fat, healthier diet and a preferred species amongst the majority due to the milder flavor. This is also skinless, making it very easy to prepare. Because Keta Salmon has less fat and natural oils, it's also the preferred filet for grilling as it stays together better.
